Day 1 — Reykjavik
Upon our arrival at 00:30, our first night in Iceland was spent in Keflavik, a charming town near the airport. The anticipation of exploring this new land kept us wide awake, eager for the adventures that lay ahead.As dawn broke, we were filled with excitement and ready to seize the day. Meeting our guide, Nikolay, we set out to explore Reykjavik. From the panoramic views of the Perlan Center to the iconic Church Hallgrímskirkja, the awe-inspiring Harpa Concert Hall, and the vibrant Rainbow Street, each sight was a delight to behold.
Trip to Fagradalsfjall Volcano
However, our story took an unexpected turn. Just eleven days before our trip, the Fagradalsfjall volcano began erupting. This natural wonder altered our plans slightly, leading us to visit the eruption site on our very first day. We knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as the eruption could cease at any moment. Fortunately, our decision proved fortuitous—the eruption ceased just a day after our departure. We felt incredibly fortunate to have witnessed this breathtaking spectacle up close.Arriving at the designated parking area, we stood on the cusp of an unforgettable adventure. Our journey began with a 9-kilometer hike that promised to immerse us in Iceland’s raw beauty. Each step brought us closer to the Fagradalsfjall volcano, with the path itself showcasing the stunning landscapes that Iceland is renowned for. The sheer magnitude of the cold lava, its otherworldly textures, and the energy emanating from the earth were unlike anything we had ever witnessed. And then, there it was—a sight that left us speechless. Words failed us as we gazed upon the volcano, overcome with emotion—a mix of awe, reverence, and a profound connection to the Earth’s primal forces.Standing before the eruption, witnessing its raw power and beauty, was an experience that etched itself into our souls. It was a moment of pure wonder, a testament to the forces that shape our world, and a memory we will cherish forever.
Day 2: Porufoss Waterfall, Silfra, Strokkur geyser, Gulfoss Waterfall
We embarked on our second day of adventure, eager to explore more of Iceland’s natural wonders. Our journey took us to the majestic Porufoss Waterfall, where we were greeted by the thunderous roar of cascading water amidst the serene wilderness.
Next, we went to Silfra, a fissure between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, where we had the unique opportunity to snorkel and witness the mesmerizing underwater landscape.
Our day continued with a visit to the geothermal area of Geysir, where we marveled at the powerful eruptions of the Strokkur geyser.
At the end of our day with a visit to the inspiring Gulfoss Waterfall, where the sheer force and beauty of nature left us in awe. As the sun set on another unforgettable day, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience Iceland’s natural wonders firsthand. And iclend horses were just adorable
Day 3: Haifoss Waterfall, Landmannalaugar, Kerið
Our journey continued with a visit to the breathtaking Haifoss Waterfall, nestled amidst Iceland’s stunning highlands. Surrounded by towering cliffs and rugged terrain, Haifoss captivated us with its raw beauty and untamed power. We then ventured deeper into the highlands, exploring the rugged landscapes and hidden treasures of this remote region. Our day concluded with a visit to Kerið, a volcanic crater lake renowned for its striking blue waters and dramatic scenery. As we gazed upon the tranquil beauty of Kerið, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the natural wonders that Iceland has to offer.
Day 4: Seljalandsfoss Skogafoss, Freya cafe, Kvernufoss, Dyrholaey Reynisfjarablacksand beach, Canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur
Forth day was filled with enchanting sights and memorable experiences. Our journey began with a visit to two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls: Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss. Here, amidst the thundering cascades and misty air, we embarked on a breathtaking photoshoot, adorned in dresses specially chosen for the occasion. As the waterfalls provided a stunning backdrop, we captured moments of beauty and wonder that would be cherished for years to come.
After our exhilarating photoshoot, we ventured to the charming Freya Cafe, nestled amidst Iceland’s stunning landscapes. Here, we indulged in delicious local cuisine and enjoyed panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, savoring the moments of relaxation and camaraderie.
Our day continued with a visit to Kvernufoss, a hidden gem nestled amidst Iceland’s rugged wilderness. Here, surrounded by towering cliffs and lush greenery, we embarked on a scenic hike to reach the cascading waterfall, where the tranquil beauty of nature enveloped us in a sense of peace and serenity.
Next, we journeyed to Dyrholaey and Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, where the dramatic coastline and towering sea stacks provided a stunning backdrop for our exploration. As we walked along the black sand beach, listening to the crashing waves and feeling the salty sea breeze on our faces, we were reminded of the raw power and beauty of the natural world.
Our final stop of the day was Canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur, a breathtaking canyon carved by the forces of nature over millions of years. Here, we marveled at the towering cliffs and winding river below, capturing the rugged beauty of the landscape in our photographs.
As the sun began to set on another unforgettable day in Iceland, we reflected on the moments of beauty, adventure, and camaraderie that had filled our journey. Each sight and experience had left an indelible mark on our hearts, reminding us of the boundless wonders that awaited us in this mesmerizing land.
Day 5: Glacier Lagoon, Jokulsarlon
Our journey continued with a visit to the breathtaking Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, where we were amazed by the surreal beauty of floating icebergs amidst the crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by towering glaciers and rugged terrain, Jokulsarlon captivated us with its otherworldly beauty and untamed wilderness. We then ventured deeper into the glacier lagoon, exploring its hidden corners and discovering the unique wildlife that calls this pristine wilderness home. As we gazed upon the tranquil beauty of Jokulsarlon, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the natural wonders that Iceland has to offer.
Day 6: Snaefellsnes Peninsula: Ytri-Tunga Seal Colony, Búðakirkja, Arnarstapi — fishing village and sea arches
Our adventure took us to the picturesque Snaefellsnes Peninsula, where we explored the stunning landscapes and hidden treasures of this remote region. Our first stop was Ytri-Tunga Seal Colony, where we had the unique opportunity to observe playful seals in their natural habitat. Next, we visited Búðakirkja, a charming black church nestled amidst Iceland’s rugged landscapes, where we marveled at its unique architecture and serene beauty. Our day continued with a visit to Arnarstapi, a picturesque fishing village renowned for its stunning sea arches and dramatic cliffs. As we explored the rugged coastline of Arnarstapi, we couldn’t help but feel a sense of awe and wonder at the natural wonders that Iceland has to offer.
Day 7: Reykjanes peninsula: Kleifarvatn Lake, Seltún Geothermal Are, “Blue lagoon”
Our journey concluded with a visit to the Reykjanes Peninsula, where we explored the stunning landscapes and unique geothermal wonders of this remote region. Our first stop was at place were fishermens dry the fish. After it was Kleifarvatn Lake, a serene oasis nestled amidst Iceland’s rugged wilderness, where we marveled at its crystal-clear waters and stunning surroundings.
Next, we visited Seltún Geothermal Area, where we witnessed the raw power of Iceland’s geothermal forces in action.
At this point we found out that our flight back home was cancelled. One of our participants rushed out to the airport, as she was needed at home next day to attend a photoshoot. But I have decided not to cancel my visit to the Blue Lagoon. I just bought new tickets home for later that night. And I did not regret it. We relaxed in the soothing waters with the breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. As we watched the sun set over the horizon, we couldn’t help but feel grateful for the opportunity to experience Iceland’s natural wonders firsthand.
To be honest with you it was one of the greatest trips in my life. Nature of Iceland is amazing! And I with all my heart recommend you to visit it. Especially with good company as I had!
