ABOUT EUGÉNIE SMIRNOVA

Hello, I am Eugénie Smirnova, a wedding photographer based in France, working with international couples who value elegance, atmosphere, and meaningful moments over stiff posing or performance.
I photograph weddings with a documentary approach: attentive, calm, and structured. Allowing the day to unfold naturally, while ensuring that nothing meaningful is missed.
A calm presence, when it matters most
Most of the couples I work with are not professional models. They don’t always know where to stand, how to move, or what to do with their hands and they shouldn’t have to.
My role is to create a space where you feel confident, relaxed, and quietly supported throughout the day. I guide when it’s helpful, and step back when the moment speaks for itself.
When plans shift, timing changes, or emotions run high, I remain fully present offering clear direction when needed, and calm reassurance when it matters most.
What matters to me is not only how your wedding looks, but how it feels to live it.

A thoughtful, well-prepared approach
I place great importance on light, atmosphere, and the overall rhythm of the day. I always discuss the structure and timing in advance, so both you and I can feel prepared and at ease. This preparation allows you to stay present, while I take care of the visual storytelling, observing quietly, anticipating moments, and capturing them as they naturally happen.
My work is mostly documentary in spirit, focused on real interactions and emotions. At the same time, I dedicate a specific part of the day, often after the ceremony, to gently guided couple portraits, usually during golden hour, when light and calm come together.

Experience & background
I have been photographing weddings for over 8 years, working with couples from different cultures and backgrounds.
I am fluent in English, French, and Russian, which allows for clear, relaxed communication throughout the planning process and on the wedding day itself.
I regularly work in châteaux, private estates, and refined venues across France, particularly in the South of France, as well as other regions.
My philosophy
I believe in understated elegance, honest moments, and images that feel timeless rather than trendy. My goal is to create photographs that allow you to remember not only how everything looked — but how it felt to be there.

If my approach resonates with you, I would love to hear about your plans.
