Rachel got ready in one of the most striking rooms I have ever photographed a bride in: the château’s own signature room, a space quite unlike anywhere else on the estate. It gave the morning a real sense of occasion, and lent the preparation portraits a character that could only have belonged to Château de Saint-Martory. Rooms like this are part of what makes a château wedding feel singular, a setting with its own story before the day even begins.
A Ceremony Led by a Friend, Facing the Château
Their ceremony took place outside, looking towards the château, and was led not by an officiant but by a close friend of the couple.
There is a particular warmth to a ceremony in the hands of someone who truly knows the two people getting married, and this one had it: personal, unhurried, full of the small glances and quiet laughter that make everyone present feel part of the moment.

Dancing in the Rain
The photographs everyone remembers came almost by accident. As we stepped out for their couple portraits, the rain arrived. Rather than run back inside, Rachel and Giles simply started to dance in it, laughing, with the château rising behind them.
Those few minutes gave us the best images of the entire day: joyful, alive and completely their own. It is the perfect reminder that the moments you cannot plan are often the ones that matter most.
