Bordeaux, June 10 2023, “UNION GRANDS CRUS”
First of all what is “UNION GRANDS CRUS”? For the las 17 years the Union is organizing the Weekend of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux, an exceptional event bringing together wine amateurs and professionals from all over the world. Its highlight was be the wine tasting which I visited with my colleague and dear friend Inessa Barrat, president of IWWA (International Women’s Wine association). It was great opportunity to get in touch with 110 owners and representatives of the Châteaux, with a breathtaking view of the Garonne.

With Inessa as my knowledgeable guide, I felt privileged to explore the prestigious Bordeaux wine region. Her expertise and refined palate allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the intricate world of Grandes Crus wines. Inessa’s passion and wealth of knowledge transformed our journey into an educational and sensory experience, enhancing my appreciation for the artistry and craftsmanship behind each bottle.
Unveiling the Grandes Crus
Our exploration took us through a tapestry of vineyards, each one a testament to Bordeaux’s winemaking heritage. From renowned Châteaux to hidden gems, we immersed ourselves in the rich history and exceptional quality of the Grandes Crus wines. The velvety textures, complex aromas, and distinct flavors of each wine tantalised our palates, leaving an indelible impression of their sophistication and elegance.

As we went from representative to representative, the air was alive with the enchanting melodies of live musician Jeanne Wintherlig.
Her melodic tunes resonated amidst the rolling hills, creating a harmonious ambiance that elevated the wine-tasting experience. The intertwining notes and the symphony of flavors danced together, forging a connection between the wines, the music, and our souls.

It was an enlightening experience as we delved into the nuances and flavors of these exceptional wines.During the workshop, we had the pleasure of sampling two types of Bordeaux wines, each offering a unique profile and character. The first wine captivated our senses with its deep ruby color, aromas of black fruits, and velvety tannins. It was a true embodiment of elegance and complexity.The second wine we tasted showcased a vibrant crimson hue and an array of flavors, including notes of ripe berries and spices.
