An International Wedding in the Tarn
Some weddings bring a family together. Tatiana and Ludovic’s wedding brought the world together.
On 29 August 2026, 130 guests from 40 countries gathered at Château de Mauriac in Senouillac, in the Tarn, for one long summer day. Many of them spoke only French, others only English, and the day had to feel like home for all of them.
If you are planning a destination wedding in France with guests from several countries, this story shows how a château wedding near Albi can hold every language, every tradition and every generation in one place.

Château de Mauriac: A Château Wedding Venue near Albi
Château de Mauriac stands in Senouillac, in the Gaillac wine country, a short drive from Albi and about an hour from Toulouse. It is a private estate with a billiard room, a library and an owner who loves to show guests around, a setting that feels like a family house as much as a monument.
For a wedding of this size it works beautifully: the getting ready, the drinks, the dinner and the dancing all happen at the château, while the church stands a short walk away. Guests leave their cars once and stay inside the day until the last song.
An Orthodox Wedding Ceremony in Senouillac
The ceremony was an Orthodox wedding in the village church, about a hundred metres from the château. Ludovic met Tatiana at the church door and walked her inside, and for about an hour the service unfolded with candles, crowns and old chants.
An Orthodox ceremony has its own rhythm, and I plan for it in advance: where the couple stands, where the light falls, which moments repeat and which happen only once. I photographed from the front, by the altar, so every exchanged look and every blessing stayed in the frame.
When Tatiana and Ludovic walked out, their guests met them with rose petals, and the celebration began right outside the church.

Getting Ready at Château de Mauriac
The day began at 11:00 in the château. I started with the details: the dress, the shoes, the rings and the bouquet, then walked the estate to find the best light for every part of the day.
Tatiana got ready with her six bridesmaids, surrounded by laughter and hairspray, while Ludovic and his friends prepared in their own suite between the billiard room and the library.
After the dress went on, Tatiana shared a first look with her bridesmaids. In a big wedding these quiet minutes matter: they are the last calm before 130 people arrive.

Champagne Poured by the Couple
Back at the château, Tatiana and Ludovic did something I love to see: they poured the champagne themselves. Two long tables, two hosts, and every guest received a glass from the couple’s hands. Live music played for the next two hours while friends from every corner of the world met each other for the first time.
Dinner, Speeches and a Game of Forty Countries
Before dinner, the owner of the château opened the doors for a tour, and the guests discovered the house room by room. Then everyone took their seats for the evening.
James and Katya gave the speeches, one after another, and the room moved from laughter to tears and back again. Between the courses came a game built around the guests' home countries, a perfect idea for a wedding where forty nations shared one table.
Later, the cake arrived in a ring of cold sparklers around the stage, and the dance floor opened soon after. That is the kind of evening that needs a photographer who stays present until the very end: my coverage ran for twelve hours, from 11:00 to 23:00.

A Bilingual Wedding with 130 Guests
More than half of the guests spoke only French, so the day moved naturally between two languages. I work in English, French and Russian, which meant I could guide family groups, explain a pose or share a joke with anyone, whichever language they spoke. With 130 guests the group photographs need a clear plan, and I organised them together with the day coordinator so every family branch had its moment without stealing the evening from the couple.
Sunset Portraits at Château de Mauriac
Before dinner I took Tatiana and Ludovic away for twenty minutes of portraits around the château.
Later, between the speeches and the main course, I took them out again for fifteen minutes. In late August the sun sets over Senouillac just before nine, and the countryside turns gold around the château.
Those few minutes alone, away from 130 guests, are often the ones couples remember most. They give you time to breathe and look at each other in the middle of your own wedding.
For a big wedding I always plan two short portrait windows rather than one long one: the couple stays with their guests, and the light still gets its moment.

Planning a Destination Wedding in France?
Planning a wedding with guests from many countries requires more than a beautiful venue. Ceremony timing, walking distances, languages and group photographs all shape how the day unfolds.
After photographing château weddings across Dordogne, Occitanie and the Bordeaux region, I created the Ultimate Wedding Photography Planning Guide to help couples approach their celebration with clarity and calm structure.
The guide covers timeline design, golden-hour strategy, ceremony positioning, and how to create a wedding experience that feels intentional rather than rushed. You can also see my collections and pricing, or book a short discovery call to talk about your date.
